Capital EX: Ten Days Of Wooooooo
Find your fun from July 23 – Aug. 1
EDMONTON – Ten days of incredible summer fun and excitement are slated for this year’s Capital EX, running from Friday, July 23 to Sunday, Aug. 1. There’s something for everyone at this year’s fair – from the very best in entertainment and shopping, to midway excitement, culture and best of all family fun.
“Capital EX is 10 days of excitement – concerts, rides, food and shopping – it’s all in one place. New memories are created and great memories are relived,” said Ken Knowles, president of Northlands. “It’s summer fun for the whole family with entertainment and attractions indoors and outdoors. Take in the thrills, the smells and the noises that make up the magnificent midway; don’t miss the sights and sounds of the amazing shows, concerts and children’s entertainment and games.”
A brand new attraction, one to tickle your taste buds, makes its Canadian debut at Capital EX. It’s A Candy Nation will undoubtedly be a highlight in Family Fun Town presented by EPCOR. It’s A Candy Nation provides an opportunity to learn from the best in the business about what it’s like to develop, test, create and market confections.
The exhibit will also celebrate North America’s leadership in developing so many of our favourite treats like Mars, tootsie rolls, Wrigley’s gum and PEZ and takes a nostalgic look at the candies we all loved as kids and that many of us still gulp down today.
The ever-popular President’s Choice SuperDogs are back for three shows daily in Hall D. There are no words to better describe President’s Choice SuperDogs 2010 than BFF-LOL-WOW! Brilliant new lights, sparkling new props and current music from today’s hottest artists. After 36 years, and entertaining millions of fans, this year’s show will feature more unpredictable antics and athleticism than ever before. We’ll all be dazzled by these daring dogs as they travel through sky high tunnels and play a game of beach volleyball.
On the TELUS Stage, fairgoers can catch the very best in concerts and children’s entertainment.
For the wee ones, catch Shrek Stompin’ the Swamp, Bob the Builder, Fifi & the Flowertots and the Backyardigans V.I.P. Experience.
This year’s concert lineup includes Hedley, Metric, Stereos, Colin James, George Canyon, Default and Kardinal Offishall to name just a few.
Over in the EX ZONE, presented by Pizza 73, check out the top international pros from the FMX and BMX pro circuit in the 2010 XTREME BIG AIR INSANITY Freestyle Motocross and BMX (bicycles) shows.
Watch as high flying FMX and BMX pros compete to be on top. They’ll defy gravity and rock Capital EX through stunts and hard core Super Back Flips and Front Flips inspired by the same performances that are showcased in popular TV shows and video games.
If you’re looking for a unique place to take five, Sip! is just what the doctor ordered. Located in Hall A, Sip! is our exclusive wine and food experience at Capital EX. Celebrating delicious food, wine, beer and spirits, fairgoers can take a break and experience a gourmet alternative to traditional fair food while watching demonstrations by Bartender One’s Gavin MacMillan, Gail Hall and the Northlands Culinary team.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of Capital EX from one of three patios, where Labatt Breweries of Canada products are on tap, located at the TELUS Stage, the east Plaza and at Bonanza Park.
For a feast for your eyes, make sure to discover Northwest Originals, a visual arts experience featuring remarkable treasures from across Western Canada. This year’s featured artist is Jon Havelock.
Over at the Penn West Energy Stage, take in the sounds of Northern Cree, Akina Shirt and Rezervation Soul in Kiyânâw, our First People’s showcase presented by Cenovus Energy.
