2012 Capital EX Parade

Parade Thursday, July 19th 11am – Noon This year the Capital EX Parade comes to you with cranked up music and pumped up fun. It’s going to be bigger and better…we’re taking it to new heights…literally! Our theme this year for Capital EX is music, so we encourage you to dress up as your favourite music artist or wear that much-loved concert t-shirt to the parade to show you’ve got the music in you! We will have over 100 entries this year and you can expect to see 60 foot helium balloons floating down the roadways, brand new floats and a pre-parade extravaganza worth getting downtown early for. So come down and enjoy a great morning as Capital EX takes over downtown, and…be ready for some surprises!

Pre-parade – Don’t miss out on the fun and excitement of this year’s pre-parade where you can get free loot and goodies from our partners and have a chance at prizes for best dressed (must be in our musical theme).

**New start time this year – We are starting things off a bit later this year, so the parade will begin at 11 a.m. Please check back for the Parade route map – COMING SOON!

Parade Info:
•Date: July 19, 2012
•Pre-parade: Starts at approximately 10 a.m.
•Start time: 11 a.m. until noon
•Parade route: To be announced soon (when possible, insert link to map here)
•Wheelchair accessible viewing areas: There will be three new viewing areas at ground level. Arrive early to get your spot!
•Transportation: We encourage everyone to take the LRT or bus because of very limited parking and summer construction downtown. Visit Take ETS to plan your route.

We’re going LIVE for 2012 – If you can’t make it downtown but don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind show, you can watch it live on Global TV Edmonton, the Parade’s official media partner.

Want to be a part of this year’s parade? Float, band and mascot applications are now being accepted. There’s no better way to celebrate summer in Edmonton. Get creative and have a blast.

Download the 2012 Parade Application today as the application deadline is Tuesday, June 19 and any received after that may not be considered for this year.
